Bruce Bickford Presents

A Leisure Class Production

48 minutes of pure CLAYHEM   |   Released September 1, 2015.

“Mercenaries and other obnoxious brutes are trying to muscle in on the CAS'L' area. They’re looking for trouble and find it. Stray energies in the area morph them into grotesque bulbous heads. The conquistadors and barbarians of the castle are smoking the wrong brand of cigarettes that cause them to commit random violence, even against each other. Some little people and fairy folk defeat many of them.” Over two decades in the making. Bruce Bickford and Leisure Class Productions present to you CAS'L' for the first time in DVD format. CAS'L' was shot over a 20 year span and is Bruce's longest independent film at 48 minutes. Loaded with nine special features and audio commentary track with Bruce himself. Monster Road ends at CAS’L' Hill.  Why was it called CAS’L' Hill?  Few knew, and they weren’t telling.  But those intrepid enough to follow that road into that hill could find out why…

“With this kind of film, technique is the thing I’m concentrating on not particularly story or style or anything… those can come later in some better prepared productions… and by better prepared I mean something you work more frame by frame on with screen grabbers and monitors to help the accuracy along but I’ve never really had that kind of stuff set up for my own animation so this movie has a lot of mistakes in it. A lot of things in it… if I had been working in the industry in some way, they would have said shoot that over again…there’s this and this and this… or they could go in and technically clean a lot of it up… smooth out a few errors like glitches of things left in the animation by accident… tools or things showing that shouldn’t be there… those can be glossed over pretty easily nowadays. Eventually I might try to do a better cleaned up version of it but… I just lack the ability at the moment. What we have here is an exploration of things like… morphing techniques where you will see one thing turn in to another. In that stuff, you might want an explanation of why things are morphing… but in my story it’s just a loose energy that can get in to things… like maybe it gets into some viscous material which is flowing around through the woods and it will… well it just keeps flowing… it keeps traveling around until it finds something to settle on and then it might make that…whatever that is make it morph into something by changing the cell walls in the tissues of that organism and caused them to move and link up with each other in different ways and cause a physical shape of things to change somehow. When that happens… you see the appearance of things change… with this CAS’L' film, it’s not to be taken too seriously because some people get obsessed with taking every sort of image just so… so… to heart but in this case I’d say just skip it because I sure wasn’t very serious about making it… except that I had to use enough discipline to try and work on it everyday but image wise it just goes from one thing to another pretty much because I didn’t have a script of any kind… I have stories… like up here in my story files… in those three boxes… there’s got to be two hundred stories and then these other stacks of stuff here are the graphic novel I’m working on and it all incorporates… not all of it… but mostly together.” -Bruce Bickford Director
